You create an account on the ADJD portal, upload your documents, pay the court fee, and wait for processing. Standard service takes up to 10 working days. Express service processes within one working day and lets you choose your ceremony date.

Travel to Abu Dhabi for the ceremony only

Once your application is approved, both parties travel to Abu Dhabi for the ceremony itself. This is the only step that requires physical presence. The drive from central Dubai to the Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court takes roughly 90 minutes, making it a practical half-day trip.

The ceremony is brief a civil contract signing before a court official. Your marriage certificate is issued the same day. There is no requirement to stay in Abu Dhabi before or after.

Express service — ceremony in one day

For couples with tight schedules or fixed departure dates, the express service at AED 2,500 is the most practical choice. It processes your application within one working day and crucially lets you select your own ceremony date and time, subject to court availability.

The standard service at AED 300 is more affordable but the court allocates your ceremony date based on availability, which may not align with your travel plans. If you are visiting from abroad or working around a tourist visa window, the express service removes the uncertainty entirely.

Documents and Process for Dubai-Based Foreigners

Whether you are a Dubai resident, a tourist, or one of each, the Abu Dhabi civil marriage document list is consistent:

• Valid passport — both parties
