UAE Visa Amnesty Program 2024: Key Details and Eligibility

Good news for the expats of the UAE who are living without a valid residency. The UAE government has announced a visa amnesty for those living illegally in the country. According to the visa amnesty, those living illegally in the country don’t need to pay the overstay fines or exit fees when departing the country. Conversely, they also have the option to legalize their status, if they want to stay in UAE. 

This visa amnesty program is started on 1, September 2024, and illegal expats can take advantage of it for two months.

Who can benefit from the new UAE Visa Amnesty Program?

All types of visa holder 

It should be noted that this amnesty covers all types of visas either expired tourist or expired residency visas. This visa amnesty provides a golden opportunity for all those living illegally in UAE to either legalize their visas or leave the country.

Eligibility for Individuals Departing from Sponsors

Moreover, those individual who have left or departed from their sponsors are also eligible to apply. They can also choose from the two options discussed above. 

The Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security further added that those illegal expats who want to leave the country will not face any entry ban. Furthermore, they can return to UAE any time they want but with the right visa.

According to the  Federal Authority For Identity, Citizenship, Customs & Port Security, only those who have entered the country illegally are not eligible for this new visa amnesty program.

Amnesty in the UAE is for those people who live illegally in the country. This amnesty allows them to register their selves or leave the country without any fine or existing fee. 

How long is this visa amnesty program in the UAE? 

The amnesty program will be in effect for two months, starting on September 1 and ending on October 31, 2024.
