A wedding can be quite tasking especially since it involves a wide range of other options. From venues to rental cars, the couple must arrange everything. However if you are looking for a destination wedding or planning on getting married as an expat in Dubai; the registration of your marriage should be the most important factor.

Let us now look at the registration details and other things one must keep in mind whilst planning your special day in Dubai.

How to Register marriage in Dubai?

A Dubai wedding registration is a strict process. If the couples have Emirates citizenship, the registration process is easy. Couples can register their marriage in court. The Government kept the same option open for tourists and couples with visitor visas. The basic rules include,

  • The couple must be above the legal age.
  • The couple must submit their birth certificates and passport copies.
  • The other laws vary depending upon the requirement of the embassy.

Non-Muslim requirements for a wedding in Dubai

Non-Muslim expats can tie the knot in Dubai as per the rules of their respective country. For expats to be eligible for getting married in Dubai, they must meet the following criteria:

  • The bride and groom must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Have two witnesses for the ceremony.
  • Copies of the passports.
  • Couple’s birth certificates.
  • Valid ID of the witnesses.
  • Proof of divorce or death of a previous spouse (where applicable).

In conclusion to your wedding registration process in Dubai

Planning a wedding involves a lot of bits and pieces that must come together to make sure your day is unforgettable. However the paperwork, legalization and documents is not something that must be taken too lightly.

If you belong to the same country or religion; the registration might be easier than if you belong to different ones. Some UAE embassies may require couples to submit additional paperwork.
